Nick Mohammed Enters the Spy Game in First Look at “Slow Horses” Season 5

Apple TV+ has released a selection of sneak peek stills (below) from the upcoming fifth season of its Emmy and BAFTA Award-winning espionage series “Slow Horses,” starring Academy Award winner Gary Oldman.

Based on “London Rules,” the next installment in Mick Herron’s bestselling “Slough House” novels, season five is set to premiere globally on Wednesday, September 24, 2025. The new season will debut with a double-episode launch, followed by weekly episodes every Wednesday through October 22.

The acclaimed spy thriller, celebrated for its razor-sharp wit and gritty take on the intelligence world, centers around Slough House – a purgatory for disgraced MI5 agents – and its irascible leader, Jackson Lamb (Oldman). With a blend of bleak humor and high-stakes tension, the series has earned a reputation for turning professional failure into compelling drama.

In the upcoming six-episode season, suspicions flare when Roddy Ho, Slough House’s eccentric tech genius, surprises his colleagues with a strikingly glamorous new girlfriend. But when a spate of strange and unsettling incidents unfolds across London, the team must connect the dots before things spiral out of control. And as Lamb reminds them, when it comes to surviving British intelligence, the London Rules – look out for number one – are always in effect.

Returning cast members include Kristin Scott Thomas, Jack Lowden, Saskia Reeves, Rosalind Eleazar, Christopher Chung, Aimee-Ffion Edwards, Ruth Bradley, James Callis, Tom Brooke, and Jonathan Pryce. Season five will also feature a guest appearance by “Ted Lasso” star Nick Mohammed.

Produced by See-Saw Films and adapted for television by Will Smith, the creative roster comprises executive producers Jamie Laurenson, Hakan Kousetta, Julian Stevens, Iain Canning, Emile Sherman, Douglas Urbanski, Gail Mutrux, Will Smith, and Graham Yost. Also, Saul Metzstein, who earned an Emmy nomination for his direction in season three, returns to direct the new season.

“Slow Horses” has become a standout in the modern spy drama genre, with two of its four already-streaming seasons receiving a perfect 100% critic score on Rotten Tomatoes. The third season alone earned nine Primetime Emmy nominations, including a win for Outstanding Writing for a Drama Series. In 2024, Apple confirmed the show’s renewal for a sixth season.

Season five of Slow Horses hits Apple TV+ on September 24, 2025.
