New Trailer for Sofia Coppola’s ‘PRISCILLA’ Reveals the Unseen Side of a Great American Myth

MUBI has today released a new full-length trailer for Priscilla, the eagerly anticipated new drama from Academy Award®-winning director and screenwriter Sofia Coppola (The Virgin Suicides, Lost in Translation).

Based on the 1985 memoir “Elvis and Me” by Priscilla Presley and Sandra Harmon, the film is penned and directed by Coppola and stars Cailee Spaeny (“Mare of Easttown”, Bad Times at the El Royale) as Priscilla, Jacob Elordi (“Euphoria”, The Kissing Booth) as Elvis Presley and Dagmara Dominczyk (Succession, Bottoms, The Lost Daughter).

Priscilla received its World Premiere in Competition at the 80th Venice International Film Festival,  followed by the UK premiere at the BFI London Film Festival earlier this year.

The film’s official synopsis reads as follows: When teenage Priscilla Beaulieu meets Elvis Presley at a party, the man who is already a meteoric rock-and-roll superstar becomes someone entirely unexpected in private moments: a thrilling crush, an ally in loneliness, a vulnerable best friend. Through Priscilla’s eyes, Sofia Coppola tells the unseen side of a great American myth in Elvis and Priscilla’s long courtship and turbulent marriage, from a German army base to his dream-world estate at Graceland, in this deeply felt and ravishingly detailed portrait of love, fantasy, and fame.

Priscilla will open theatrically in the UK and Ireland from 26 December 2023 with special 35mm previews in select cinemas. The film will be go on to receive a wide release from 1 January 2024.
