Meet the New Doctor in DISNEY+ Teaser for “DOCTOR WHO” Christmas Special, “THE CHURCH ON RUBY ROAD”

Disney+ have treated us to an early Christmas cracker in the form of a teaser trailer for the eagerly-awaited “Doctor Who” Christmas Special, “The Church on Ruby Road,” ahead of its December 25 premiere (9:55 a.m. PT / 12:55 p.m. PT).

The Christmas Special welcomes Ncuti Gatwa (Barbie, “Sex Education”) as The Fifteenth Doctor and Millie Gibson (“Coronation Street”) as his new companion, Ruby Sunday.

The teaser debut was also accompanied with a blue carpet world premiere screening of the Christmas Special and a Q&A with Gatwa, Gibson and showrunner Russell T Davies that took place at the British Film Institute, Southbank yesterday. Gatwa and Gibson also pushed the button to light the London Eye landmark in the colors of the iconic “Doctor Who” Time Vortex yesterday to celebrate the premiere.

According to the official synopsis, this year’s Christmas Special reminds us how long ago on Christmas Eve, a baby was abandoned in the snow. Coming to the present day and Ruby Sunday meets the Doctor, stolen babies, goblins and perhaps the secret of her birth.

“Doctor Who” 60th Anniversary Specials “The Star Beast,” “Wild Blue Yonder,” and “The Giggle” are now streaming on Disney+ and new episodes of “Doctor Who” will stream globally on Disney+ (outside of the UK and Ireland).
