Keith Rosson’s vampire revenge horror novel Coffin Moon is heading to television, with Paramount Television Studios developing an adaptation alongside Jessica Biel and Michelle Purple’s Iron Ocean.
Noah Harpster and Micah Fitzerman-Blue, whose credits include A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood and Painkiller, are attached to adapt the novel and will serve as writers and showrunners. Rosson will join the project as a consulting producer.
Published in 2025, Coffin Moon follows Duane Minor, a Vietnam veteran and bartender battling to stay sober and keep his family together. Then the vampire who murdered his family walks back into his life.
Driven by revenge, Duane sets out across the Pacific Northwest with his niece Julia. Their pursuit brings them into contact with vampires, those hunting them with silver bullets and a succession of damaged characters caught in the same violent world.
The TV announcement comes as Rosson has two books hitting shelves. Coffin Moon was released in paperback yesterday, September 22, while Crone, the author’s latest novel, also arrived yesterday as a brand-new release.
Rosson has cited Charles Portis’ True Grit as an influence on Coffin Moon. The novel was originally published last September and marked another addition to a body of work that now spans seven novels, including Fever House and its sequel The Devil by Name.
The TV project is the latest collaboration between Paramount Television Studios and Iron Ocean. The companies are also developing The Ambler Warning, an adaptation of Robert Ludlum’s spy thriller, with Biel attached to star and executive produce.
