Quiver Distribution has debuted the official trailer for Louise Archambault’s (And The Birds Rained Down) period drama Irena’s Vow; based on the true story of Irena Gut Opdyke, a young nurse living in Poland during the Nazi Regime.
Directed by Archambault, from a screenplay penned by Dan Gordon (Murder in the First, Wyatt Earp), this remarkable true story of Irena Gut Opdyke and the triumphs of the human spirit over devastating tragedy stars Sophie Nélisse (“Yellowjackets,” 47 Meters Down: Uncaged), Dougray Scott (Mission: Impossible 2, “Batwoman”), Andrzej Seweryn, and Maciek Nawrocki.
The film follows 19-year-old Irena Gut who is promoted to housekeeper in the home of a highly respected Nazi officer when she finds out that the Jewish ghetto is about to be liquidated. Determined to help twelve Jewish workers, she decides to shelter them in the safest place she can think of: the basement of the German commandant’s house. Over the next two years, Irena uses her wit, humor, and courage to hide her friends until the end of the German occupation, concealing them in the midst of countless Nazi parties, a blackmail scheme, and even the birth of a child.
The film is produced by Nicholas Tabarrok, p.g.a, Beata Pisula, Tim Ringuette, Berry Meyerowitz and Jeff Sackman and Executive Produced by Larry Greenberg and Leah Jaunzems
Irena’s Vow releases in theaters this April 15 and 16 and for now we’ll leave you with the trailer that provides a glimpse of this truly inspirational film that brings light to an unsung heroine and shines inspiration in a time we need it most.
