‘Hold the Fort’ Teaser: Wild Horror-Comedy Blends Gore, Laughter, and Hellish Mayhem Ahead of Fantasia Premiere

Horror-comedies featuring hapless, motley crews going toe-to-toe with the supernatural have become a mainstay of the indie film scene. But Hold the Fort, the latest from director William Bagley (The Murder Podcast), elevates the genre with an action-packed, laugh-out-loud twist. Blue Finch Film Releasing has dropped the first official teaser trailer for the film ahead of its World Premiere at the Fantasia International Film Festival on July 16th.

In a smart spin on modern anxieties about homeownership, Hold the Fort delivers a wild, gory thrill ride that blends heart, humor, and horror in equal measure. The story follows Lucas (Chris Mayers, “Ozark”) and Jenny (Haley Leary, The Out-Laws), a couple who think they’ve finally achieved the American Dream when they become homeowners — only to quickly discover that their new digs come with a hell of a catch. Trapped in a deadly showdown between their overzealous Homeowners Association and an army of hellish monsters, the couple’s new life quickly spirals into a nightmare straight from the depths of hell.

What follows is a deliciously deranged cocktail of blood, gore, and splatsick as Hold the Fort delivers gleefully gruesome deaths and a delightfully nonstop parade of practical effects. Veteran stunt performer Hamid-Reza Benjamin Thompson (Black Panther, Avengers: Endgame) also brings an electrifying energy to the film.

Sharing his ambition for the film, Bagley said: “My goal with this film was to make a hilarious fast-paced thrill ride while also telling a great story with heart. Hopefully, through all the blood, laughs, fights, and gags, you leave the film feeling inspired to tackle whatever life throws at you. Or at the very least, you have a great time!”

Hold the Fort is produced by Matt Dodd, Luke Williams, Tim Reis, and Julian Smith.
