Doves’ Long-Awaited LP ‘CONSTELLATIONS FOR THE LONELY’ Gets New Release Date, New Single, and Special Listening Events

Doves have unveiled another taster of their highly anticipated album Constellations For The Lonely (pre-save here) with the release of a new single, “Saint Teresa.” The track—led by Jimi Goodwin—takes inspiration from the intriguing story of Teresa of Ávila, a 16th-century Spanish nun whose interrupted burial sparked the band’s creative journey. The song marks the third harbinger of the new album, following previously released singles “Renegade” and the widely-playlisted “Cold Dreaming.”

Commenting on the new single, Goodwin says: “By keeping it to one side, we were able to reappraise it and make it better. Andy and Jez helped out with it and it’s great that it’s found a home. My Catholicism went out of the window years ago, but I love the iconography associated with the church. They put on a really good show. I identify with it all from my childhood. The story of Saint Teresa is fascinating.”

“Sometimes songs can be like a Rubik’s Cube,” adds Jez Williams. “You play with it but have to go back to it after a time and, only then, do you really know what to do with it. ‘Saint Teresa’ was still knocking on the door when we came to record the album, so we took it into sessions with Dan (Austin – co-producer), replacing some of it, changing a few of the lyrics and it turned out great.”

Originally set for a Valentine’s Day 2025 release, Constellations For The Lonely will now drop on Friday, 28 February 2025 on EMI North, due to unexpected manufacturing delays. Despite the wait, the album’s release will be well worth it, featuring 10 tracks across various formats including vinyl, CD, cassette, and digital.

Adding to the excitement, Doves will host three exclusive album listening parties at the Jodrell Bank Observatory, a significant location for the band. These sold-out events will take place in the state-of-the-art First Light Pavilion on Thursday, 13 February 2025, with a special 5.1 surround sound mix of the album and accompanying visual displays that complement the album’s spacey themes.

Doves’ return to the stage for their Constellations For The Lonely UK tour is also highly anticipated. Kicking off on 25 February 2025, the tour will cover 16 dates across the UK, with most shows already sold out. The band’s performance will see brothers Jez and Andy Williams take the lead, following a 15-year hiatus from indoor headline shows. Fans are urged to grab any remaining tickets via the band’s official website.

With Constellations For The Lonely, the band continues to build on the momentum of their 2020 UK No.1 album The Universal Want and their iconic Mercury Award-nominated works from earlier in their career. Doves’ emotional return—both on record and on stage—proves their lasting impact and connection with fans, ensuring that this new era is one worth the wait.
