To commemorate the 64th anniversary of the Dalai Lama’s escape from Tibet to India, Compassionate Films is releasing the eagerly anticipated new documentary ‘Never Forget Tibet: The Dalai Lama’s Untold Story’ in cinemas across the UK and Ireland this coming 19 April.
To enhance the experience, Dr Deepak Chopra, New York Times bestselling author and long-time friend of His Holiness Dalai Lama, has contributed a special meditation for world peace to celebrate the release of this historic documentary, which will be played exclusively in cinemas before the film.
Directed by Jean-Paul Mertinez and inspired by Rani Singh’s book “An Officer and His Holiness”, this officially sanctioned documentary explores, with His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama, the extraordinary account of his escape into exile, for the first time on film in his own words with the Indian political officer who led him to safety, Har Mander Singh.
Featuring members of the Dalai Lama’s family, the Tibetan community in exile and those with historic links to Tibet, the film explores the Dalai Lama’s compassion for a world seemingly in crisis today and strives to draw insight into what we can learn from his inspiring life story, Tibetan culture and its ancient spirituality.
The film is narrated by British acting legend Hugh Bonneville (Downton Abbey, Paddington) and features music composed by Grammy-nominated artist Anoushka Shankar. The film is produced by Compassionate Films and executive produced by Templeheart Films, Lyndon Baldock, Gavin Patterson and Rani Singh.
Commenting on the imminent release, filmmaker Jean-Paul Mertinez said “We are thrilled the story of the Dalai Lama’s escape from Tibet into India is coming to audiences on the big screen. Whilst making the film, I was profoundly moved by his compassion in the face of adversity, which will hopefully inspire many others. The film documents a key moment in world history that is still so relevant to the modern world.“
Never Forget Tibet: The Dalai Lama’s Untold Story will be arriving at cinemas nationwide from 19th April, 2023 and you can book tickets now at https://intl.neverforgettibet.com/
