Cinedigm Confirms Release of Intimate Shockumentary ‘HOLLYWOOD DREAMS & NIGHTMARES: THE ROBERT ENGLUND STORY’

Cinedigm has confirmed that it will release Gary Smart’s (Leviathan: The Story of Hellraiser) and Christopher Griffiths’ (Pennywise: The Story of It) horror documentary Hollywood Dreams & Nightmares: The Robert Englund Story on Screambox and Digital this coming 6 June 2023.

Filmed over the course of two years, the documentary explores classically trained actor, Robert Englund‘s career from his early beginnings in Buster and Billie and Stay Hungry (with Arnold Schwarzenegger) to his breakout role as the iconic supernatural serial killer Freddy Krueger in the ’80s, his directorial debut with the 1988 shocker 976-EVIL and his iconic acting status in more recent roles such as the hit TV series “Stranger Things”.

Co-directed by Smart and Griffiths, and co-written by Smart and Neil Morris (Dark Ditties Presents ‘Mrs. Wiltshire’) the film features interviews with Robert Englund himself, Nancy Englund, Eli Roth (Cabin Fever), Adam Green (Hatchet), Tony Todd (Candyman), Lance Henriksen (Aliens), Heather Langenkamp (A Nightmare on Elm Street), Lin Shaye (Insidious), Bill Moseley (The Devil’s Rejects), Doug Bradley (Hellraiser) and Kane Hodder (Friday the 13th Part VII: The New Blood).

Commenting on the project, Smart said, “This documentary is a true love letter to an iconic character actor, who has a wealth of experience and knowledge of film, and who also selfishly impacted the creators of many directors and fellow actors through his support, guidance and appreciation of their work. This is something that Chris, Adam and I have also experienced with Robert in working with him on Hollywood Dreams and Nightmares.”

To whet your appetite for this intimate look into one of the most revolutionary icons of our generation, we’ll leave you with a taster of the documentary in the trailer below.
