Shudder has announced a brand-new horror anthology series, “Hell Motel,“ which is set to premiering Tuesday, June 17, 2025, with a two-episode debut. Created by “Slasher“ franchise masterminds Aaron Martin and Ian Carpenter, the eight-episode limited series will release new episodes weekly on Tuesdays.
Set in the newly renovated Cold River Motel, “Hell Motel” follows a group of ten true-crime enthusiasts who gather for the reopening of the motel, notorious for a 30-year-old unsolved Satanic Mass Murder. But when they end up stranded, the group finds themselves getting picked off one by one in increasingly gruesome ways, mirroring – and surpassing – the original killings.

Emmy® Award-winner Eric McCormack (“Will & Grace,” “Departure”) stars as Hemmingway, a sinister chef with a dark flair for the macabre. McCormack, who previously appeared in “Slasher: Ripper,” joked, “If you loved hating Basil Garvey, prepare to feel an instant disdain for Hemmingway.”
The series also stars Paula Brancati (“Slasher”), Shaun Benson (“Slasher,” “The Boys”), Atticus Mitchell (“Fargo,” “The Hardy Boys”), Emmanuel Kabongo (Sway, Simulant), Jim Watson (“The Strain,” “Transplant”), Genevieve DeGraves (“Slasher,” “Chapelwaite”), Icesis Couture (“Canada’s Drag Rage”), Brynn Godenir (Scared Shitless) and Michelle Nolden (She Never Died, “Heartland”).
Reflecting on horror’s magnetic pull, creators Martin and Carpenter said, “With Hell Motel we take a good look in the mirror as both horror fans and horror creators, delving into the allure of a genre of storytelling as old as drama itself. But as any horror fan who’s ever uttered “Bloody Mary” three times into a mirror knows, you’ve got to be careful what you wish for…,”
“Hell Motel” arrives during a landmark year for Shudder, marking the streamer’s 10th anniversary. As part of the year-long Shudder 10 event, fans can expect a terrifying slate of new content, special events, screenings, and exclusive merchandise. Following a successful 2024, where Shudder dominated the Rotten Tomatoes Horror list with six of the top ten titles, including the #1 spot with Late Night with the Devil, “Hell Motel” promises to keep the horror thrills coming.

Developed by Shaftesbury in association with Hollywood Suite and with financial support from the Bell Fund, “Hell Motel” is a Shudder Original Series. The show is created and executive produced by Martin and Carpenter, with additional producers including Christina Jennings, Scott Garvie, Thomas P. Vitale, and director Adam MacDonald.
