Buckle Up! New ‘UNTIL DAWN’ Trailer Plunges Headfirst Into a Life-in-Reverse, Monster-Filled Loop of Death

Every night a different nightmare…

Sony Pictures Entertainment has unleashed a brand.new trailer for Until Dawn, the upcoming live-action adaptation of the popular PlayStation horror game. Directed by David F. Sandberg (Annabelle: Creation, Lights Out), the film will release on the 10th anniversary of the original game and promises to bring the tension-filled atmosphere of the game to the big screen but in a completely new way.

Until Dawn follows Clover, a young woman who, one year after the mysterious disappearance of her sister Melanie, sets out to uncover the truth. Joining her friends, Clover ventures into the remote valley where Melanie vanished, finding themselves at an abandoned visitor center. Soon, they realize that they are being hunted by a masked killer, and each time they die, they wake up at the start of the same night, trapped in a time loop. As the threats grow more dangerous, the group must find a way to survive before the night ends, knowing that every death reduces their chances of escaping.

The filmmakers worked closely with PlayStation Productions and Sony Pictures to ensure that the adaptation stays true to the spirit of the original game while introducing new characters and a fresh storyline. The film is written by Blair Butler (The Invitation, Polaroid) and Gary Dauberman (It, The Nun series), with Sandberg at the helm. This collaboration has resulted in a film that blends elements of the original game with new ideas, offering both fans of the game and newcomers an engaging cinematic experience.

The film’s cast includes Ella Rubin (AnoraThe Idea of You), Michael Cimino (Annabelle Comes Home), Odessa A’zion (HellraiserThe Inhabitant), Ji-young Yoo (Smoking TigersMoxie), Belmont Cameli (Along for the Ride), Maia Mitchell (“Good Trouble”, “The Artful Dodger”) and Peter Stormare (John Wick: Chapter 2Clown, “Prison Break”).

Stormare expressed his excitement about returning to the Until Dawn universe, saying, “I’ve been fortunate to be part of Until Dawn since the original game, and I’m excited to be part of the film. It’s a love letter to horror, staying true to the spirit of the game while introducing fresh characters and new twists. Whether you’re a longtime fan or discovering it for the first time, this film offers something unique.”

Until Dawn is produced by Asad Qizilbash, Carter Swan, David F. Sandberg, Lotta Losten, Roy Lee, Gary Dauberman, and Mia Maniscalco, with executive producers Charles Miller and Hermen Hulst. The film is scheduled for release in theaters on April 25, 2025.

The new trailer certainly has us excited for what’s to come, offering a curious life-in-reverse-meets-Happy-Death-Day glimpse of what’s in store. While we’re still eager to see exactly how the story will differ from the original game, it’s clear that the filmmakers have taken a fresh approach, bringing new characters and a unique perspective to the screen. We’ll have to wait until the film’s release to find out exactly how the story unfolds, but it’s definitely one to keep an eye on as we get closer to its April 2025 release.
