Apple TV+ has debuted a first look at Nocturne, its upcoming 10-episode crime drama adapted from Lars Kepler’s bestselling novels Lazarus and The Sandman. Starring Liev Schreiber, Zazie Beetz, and Stephen Graham, the series is scheduled to premiere globally on Friday, October 30, 2026, with a two-episode debut. Subsequent episodes will rollout weekly on Fridays through December 25, 2026.
The series centers on Jonah Lynn (Schreiber), an ex-soldier turned homicide detective who relocates from Philadelphia to a small town in Western Pennsylvania in search of a quieter life. The peace is disrupted when his family and the community come under threat from serial killer Jurek Walter (Graham). The narrative intensifies when Lynn is forced to send his surrogate daughter, FBI Agent Saga Bauer (Beetz), to confront Walter in a desperate bid to find his last missing victim. The ensemble cast also includes Bill Camp, Rory Culkin, Chrissy Metz, Poorna Jagannathan, and Gary Carr.
John Hlavin (Shooter, The Man Who Fell to Earth) developed the series for television and serves as showrunner and writer. Rowan Joffe (Tin Star) is also credited as a creator, writer, and executive producer. Tim Van Patten (Franklin, Masters of the Air) is attached to direct the first two episodes and will serve as executive producer.
Produced for Apple TV+ by A+E Studios in association with Range Studios, the executive producing team includes Schreiber and Beetz, the latter under her Sleepy Poppy banner. Additional executive producers include Barry Jossen and Tana Jamieson for A+E Studios, alongside Heather Kadin, Peter Micelli, and Jack Whigham for Range Studios. Series authors Lars Kepler (the pen name for Alexandra Coelho Ahndoril and Alexander Ahndoril), Øystein Karlsen, David Rysdahl, Dorothy Fortenberry, and Niclas Salomonsson also executive produce, with Julie Herrin serving as co-executive producer.
The source material by Lars Kepler consists of ten crime novels that have collectively sold 20 million copies globally, with translations spanning 40 languages across 170 territories.
