Apple TV+ has debuted the official trailer for their the platform’s psychological thriller series “Disclaimer,” set to captivate audiences with its narrative chock full of revelatory dark secrets when it debuts globally on October 11, 2024.
This gripping drama, based on the novel of the same name by Renée Knight, who also serves as co-executive producer, and told in seven chapters, boasts an impressive lead cast, led by the award-winning talents of Cate Blanchett (Nightmare Alley, Blue Jasmine), Kevin Kline (A Fish Called Wanda, French Kiss), and Sacha Baron Cohen (The Trial of the Chicago 7, Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street), in lead roles. Helmed by celebrated filmmaker Alfonso Cuarón, who brings his five-time Oscar-winning expertise to both writing and directing the series, “Disclaimer” centers on Catherine Ravenscroft (Blanchett), a renowned and respected journalist, who built her career on uncovering the dark secrets and misdeeds of others.
However, the tables are suddenly turned when Catherine receives a mysterious novel from an anonymous author. As she begins to read the pages, she quickly realizes with dawning horror that she is the central character in this story – a story that threatens to lay bare her own darkest secrets and expose the skeletons in her closet. As Catherine attempts to ascertain the writer’s true identity, she finds herself forced to confront her own past before it destroys her life and her relationships with her husband Robert (Baron Cohen) and son Nicholas (Kodi Smit-McPhee).
The extended ensemble cast includes Lesley Manville, Louis Partridge, Leila George, Hoyeon, and features Indira Varma as the narrator.
“Disclaimer” is a production from Apple Studios, with co-production from Esperanto Filmoj and Anonymous Content. Cuarón serves as executive producer for Esperanto Filmoj alongside Gabriela Rodriguez. Besides starring in the series, Blanchett also serves as exec. producer. David Levine and the late Steve Golin executive produce for Anonymous Content. Academy Award winner Emmanuel Lubezki, Donald Sabourin and Carlos Morales also executive produce. Lubezki and Academy Award nominee Bruno Delbonnel serve as directors of photography. The score is composed by multiple Academy and GRAMMY Award winner Finneas O’Connell.
The first two episodes of “Disclaimer” will debut on Friday, 11 October 2024, followed thereafter by new episodes released on a weekly basis.
