Lucky Strike trailer offers first look at Scott Eastwood in Rod Lurie’s Battle of the Bulge War Drama

Scott Eastwood in Lucky Strike movie

Roadside Attractions and Saban Films have released the first trailer for Lucky Strike, a World War II thriller inspired by true events. Directed by Rod Lurie (The Outpost, The Contender), the film stars Scott Eastwood as John Castle, a soldier trapped behind enemy lines during the Battle of the Bulge.

The story centers on Castle’s attempts to evade an advancing Nazi Panzer army using his wits and a Motorola SCR-300 – a backpack-mounted radio that represented new technology at the end of the war. The project reunites Lurie with Eastwood and producer Marc Frydman following their 2020 military drama The Outpost.

The supporting cast includes Colin Hanks (A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood, “Band of Brothers”), Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor (King Richard, Exhibiting Forgiveness), and Taylor John Smith (Where the Crawdads Sing, “Sharp Objects”).

According to director Lurie, the film explores the “thematic spine” of why people survive under “existential calamity,” centering on the resolve of the American soldiers of that era.

As the United States prepares to mark its 250th anniversary, the film’s distributors are positioning Lucky Strike as a tribute to American ingenuity and the “magnificent generation” that defined the mid-20th century. Saban Films’ Shanan Becker describes the project as a reminder of the “grit and ingenuity” required in the face of overwhelming odds.

Lucky Strike is scheduled for a nationwide theatrical release on June 26, 2026.
