How DO NOT ENTER Turned a Haunted Hotel Into Pure Livestreaming Horror — Cast & Director Interviews

a still from lionsgate horror do not enter

Lionsgate Premiere will release the supernatural shocker Do Not Enter in theaters this Friday, March 20. Marc Klasfeld directs the feature, which is adapted from the novel by David Morrell. Morrell’s 1972 debut First Blood was adapted into the 1982 film of the same name, launching the long-running Rambo franchise.

Do Not Enter centers on a group of urban explorers who broadcast their exploits online. For their most ambitious stream to date, they enter the abandoned Paragon Hotel in New Jersey, a property tied to organized crime history, alleged hauntings, and rumors of hidden cash. Once inside, the group faces escalating threats from rival trespassers as well as unexplained forces within the building. The livestreamed event becomes a test of survival as tensions rise and their surroundings grow increasingly hostile.

The cast includes Jake Manley (Infamous, “The Order”), Adeline Rudolph (Mortal Kombat II, “Resident Evil”), Francesca Reale (“Stranger Things”), Shane Paul McGhie (“Deputy”), Kai Caster (“Yellowstone”), Brennan Keel Cook (Found Footage: The Making of the Patterson Project), and Javier Botet (REC, The Last Voyage of the Demeter, It: Chapter Two), with Nicholas Hamilton (It, “Gen V”) and Laurence O’Fuarain also appearing.

In anticipation of the film’s release, CinemaChords spoke with Jake Manley, Francesca Reale, and director Marc Klasfeld to discuss the challenges of portraying and directing characters who are constantly performing for a livestream audience, how the presence of an online audience influences the characters’ behavior and decisions in tense situations, and the impact of the Paragon Hotel’s immersive environment on both performances and the filmmaking process.
