“Baywatch” Reboot Casts Jessica Belkin to Join Stephen Amell and David Chokachi for Fox 2026–2027 Series

Fox and Fremantle have confirmed the primary regular cast for the upcoming “Baywatch” television reboot, scheduled to premiere during the 2026–2027 season. Production will begin this spring at Venice Beach and the Fox Studio Lot in Century City.

Stephen Amell (“Arrow”, “Heels”) will star as Hobie Buchannon, now serving as Baywatch Captain and continuing the legacy of his father, Mitch. David Chokachi returns to the series as Cody Madison. Jessica Belkin (Last Straw, “Elle”) joins as Charlie Vale, a daughter Hobie didn’t know he had, who arrives in his life wanting to train as a Baywatch lifeguard.

The series will follow Hobie as he mentors a new generation of lifeguards while navigating his relationship with Charlie. Chokachi’s character is said to remain connected to the Baywatch community in a supportive role.

The original series aired from 1989 to 2001 and starred David Hasselhoff, with Brandon Call and later Jeremy Jackson portraying Hobie Buchannon. The show was canceled after its first season on NBC but survived through syndication, eventually becoming the most-watched television series in the world, reaching over 1.1 billion viewers weekly. It aired under its original title and format from 1989 to 1999, and from 1999 to 2001, following a setting change and major cast overhaul, it was known as “Baywatch: Hawaii.”

The franchise also included the spin-off series “Baywatch Nights,” which followed Mitch Buchannon running a nightclub while investigating cases that evolved from unusual mysteries to X-Files–style supernatural storylines and aired for two seasons from 1995 to 1997. In addition, the Baywatch brand was adapted into a feature film in 2017.

The reboot is being produced by Fox Entertainment and Fremantle, with Matt Nix (“Burn Notice,” “The Gifted”) serving as showrunner and executive producer. McG is directing the premiere episode, joined by producers Michael Berk, Greg Bonann, Doug Schwartz, Dante Di Loreto, and Mike Horowitz.
