A first look has been revealed for Only What We Carry, a drama set along the Normandy coast, starring Simon Pegg and Sofia Boutella. The cast also includes Quentin Tarantino in his most prominent acting role since 1996, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Liam Hellmann, and Lizzy McAlpine, who makes her feature film debut.

International Film Trust (IFT) has acquired the film for world sales and will present it at this week’s European Film Market (EFM). The project is currently in post-production.

The story follows Julian Johns (Pegg), a former Moulin Rouge artistic director living in isolation. His routine is interrupted when Charlotte Levant (Boutella), a dancer from his past, tracks him down after reading a news article revealing his whereabouts. Tarantino plays Julian’s publisher, who resides in a nearby chateau as Julian works on his memoir, while Gainsbourg portrays Charlotte’s protective sister.

Pegg and Boutella previously appeared together in Star Trek Beyond.

The film is written and directed by Jamie Adams (Pose, The Holiday List), who continues his improvisation-driven approach influenced by the work of Eric Rohmer and Hong Sang Soo.

Only What We Carry is produced by Charles Benoin, Liam Hellmann, and Jouri Smit. Executive producers include Simon Pegg, Alan Ganansia, Richard Althoff, Laura Auclair, Theodoros Ornithopoulos, Jihane Salim, Frédérique Mathias, Alain Bérard, and Audrey Boccadifuocco.
