Apple TV+ has set a June 5, 2026 premiere for its new 10-episode psychological thriller limited series “Cape Fear,” launching with the first two episodes, followed by weekly releases every Friday through July 31.
The series was created, showrun, and executive produced by Nick Antosca, with Martin Scorsese and Steven Spielberg also serving as executive producers. Academy Award-winner Javier Bardem and Academy Award-nominee Amy Adams star and executive produce. The ensemble cast also includes Patrick Wilson, CCH Pounder, Joe Anders, Lily Collias, Jamie Hector, Malia Pyles, and Anna Baryshnikov.
Inspired by the 1991 Scorsese-directed remake of the Gregory Peck classic, the story follows attorneys Anna (Adams) and Tom Bowden (Wilson) as they face Max Cady (Bardem), the convicted killer they helped put behind bars, upon his release.
“Cape Fear” is produced by UCP, a division of Universal Studio Group, and Amblin Television. It is based on both the novel The Executioners and the 1991 film. Academy Award-nominee Morten Tyldum directed the pilot and serves as executive producer. Antosca develops and produces alongside Alex Hedlund for Eat The Cat; Darryl Frank and Justin Falvey work with Spielberg for Amblin Television. The series is produced under Antosca’s overall deal with UCP, where he has been based since 2017.
