Ryan Gosling Floats Into the Unknown in First Poster for PROJECT HAIL MARY – Launching March 20, 2026

Strap in for launch — Amazon MGM Studios has just dropped the first official poster for Project Hail Mary, the highly anticipated adaptation of Andy Weir’s 2022 Hugo Award-nominated space epic that blends hard science, high-stakes suspense, and unexpected heart.

Starring Ryan Gosling (Barbie, Drive) as a lone astronaut with a forgotten past and an Earth-shattering mission, Project Hail Mary is set to arrive exclusively in theaters on March 20, 2026.

Behind the camera are Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, the brains behind The LEGO Movie and Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, stepping into more serious territory — but with their signature flair for high-concept storytelling still firmly in place. The script comes courtesy of another alumnus of the “science-is-cool” cinematic universe, Drew Goddard (The Martian).

The plot centres on Ryland Grace (Ryan Gosling), a mild-mannered science teacher who awakens aboard a spacecraft millions of miles from Earth, with no memory of who he is or how he arrived there. As fragments of his past begin to resurface, Grace comes to understand the magnitude of his mission: to unravel the mystery behind a rapidly deteriorating sun and prevent a global extinction event. Armed with only his scientific expertise and ingenuity, he must rise to the challenge — but an unforeseen alliance may ultimately prove to be the key to saving not just Earth, but himself.

Joining Gosling is a stellar supporting cast: Sandra Hüller (Anatomy of a Fall), Lionel Boyce (The Bear”), Ken Leung (“Lost”), and comedian-turned-actor Milana Vayntrub.

Project Hail Mary is produced by Amy Pascal, Ryan Gosling, Phil Lord, Christopher Miller, Aditya Sood, Rachel O’Connor, and Andy Weir. The film’s executive producers are Patricia Whitcher, Drew Goddard, Sarah Esberg, Lucy Kitada, Nikki Baida, and Ken Kao.

With a grounded everyman hero, a looming cosmic threat, and the promise of a friendship that transcends species (if you know, you know), this could be the genre’s next great leap.

Get ready for an unforgettable tale of survival, sacrifice, and unexpected connection when Project Hail Mary launches into theaters March 20, 2026. Until then, we’ll leave you with the poster, whilst the trailer will drop this coming Monday, June 30.
