IFC Films Rebrands as Independent Film Company, Launches IFC Entertainment Group

IFC Films, a longtime staple in independent cinema, announced today that it is rebranding as Independent Film Company. The update comes as part of a broader effort to modernize its identity while honoring its 25-year legacy of supporting distinctive, filmmaker-driven projects.

Alongside the new name, the company introduced a redesigned logo and an original audio signature composed by Adam “Adrock” Horovitz of the Beastie Boys—adding a unique creative touch to its refreshed image.

The rebrand also coincides with the launch of IFC Entertainment Group, a newly established umbrella brand that brings together four of AMC Networks’ film-focused divisions: Independent Film Company, IFC Center, RLJE Films, and Shudder, the popular horror streaming platform. The goal is to present a more unified strategy across theatrical releases, streaming, and home entertainment, while allowing each brand to maintain its own voice.

Scott Shooman, Head of IFC Entertainment Group, described the rebrand as both a continuation and a step forward. “IFC Films is synonymous with taste and terrific curation. With our brand refresh, we are taking the storied foundation of quality, filmmaker first cinema and giving it a fresh face for the evolving filmgoing audience. We are also proud to establish IFC Entertainment Group to further identify how our distinct brand voices cohesively integrate under one roof, showcasing the breadth of our reach, all built on 25 years of delivering the best in independent filmmaking,” says Shooman.

The announcement follows a strong year for the company in 2024, with several standout titles including Late Night with the Devil, Oddity, The Taste of Things, In a Violent Nature, Ghostlight, and the Oscar-nominated animated film Memoir of a Snail.

Looking ahead, Independent Film Company plans to build on that momentum. Its 2025 slate features a range of new releases, from Eli Craig’s horror-comedy Clown in a Cornfield (releasing this Friday) to Sean Byrne’s Dangerous Animals, which is part of the Cannes Director’s Fortnight lineup. Other titles include The Baltimorons, directed by Jay Duplass, which won the SXSW Audience Award earlier this year.
