Legendary frontman Roger Daltrey has today announced additional dates for his summer 2025 tour where he will be offering new takes on classic songs by The Who, as well as his solo hits, rare tracks, and sharing stories from his incredible five-decade career.
The renowned frontman will take the stage at two major UK venues: TK Maxx presents Live at the Piece Hall in Halifax on Wednesday, July 30th, and the Margate Summer Series at Dreamland on Friday, August 8th, with tickets going on sale this coming Friday, December 6th.
These new summer shows follow the announcement of Daltrey’s solo tour in April and May 2025, where he will be accompanied by his renowned 9-piece band. The group includes several long-time collaborators, such as Simon Townshend (guitar/ vocals) alongside John Hogg (bass), Doug Boyle (guitar), Steve Weston (harmonica), Jody Linscott (percussion), Billy Nicholls (BV), Katie Jacoby (violin), Geraint Watkins (keyboard) and Scott Devours (drums).
Reflecting on the upcoming tour, Daltrey said, “Here we go again! After touring the US with this band of phenomenal musicians, I can’t wait to get back on the road in the UK with these shows. It’s a joy to be on stage performing and sharing familiar songs in an unfamiliar way.”
Daltrey’s solo career, which began in 1973 with the hit single Giving It All Away, has spanned more than five decades. His most recent album, As Long As I Have You (2018), reached the top 10 in the UK and earned critical acclaim. Known for his role as lead singer of The Who, Daltrey helped shape the sound of rock music with timeless anthems like ‘My Generation’, ‘Pinball Wizard’, ‘Love Reign O’er Me’, ‘Who Are You’, ‘Won’t Get Fooled Again’ and ‘Baba O’Riley’.
Daltrey’s passion for charity work remains as strong as ever. In 2024, he stepped down as the figurehead for the Teenage Cancer Trust after 24 years, during which he helped raise over £34 million through star-studded concerts at the Royal Albert Hall. He continues to serve as Honorary Patron for the charity, which funds specialized wards for young people with cancer. This year, Daltrey also contributed a harmonica part to Going Home (Theme from Local Hero), a charity single by Mark Knopfler’s all-star Guitar Heroes ensemble, with proceeds benefiting the Teenage Cancer Trust. The recording featured everyone from Slash to Joan Armatrading to Roger’s The Who counterpart and guitarist Pete Townshend.
With these upcoming summer performances and his continued dedication to philanthropy, Daltrey remains one of rock’s most influential and beloved figures, continuing to captivate audiences with his remarkable talent and unwavering spirit.
