Netflix Unveils First Look at Gripping, Real-Time Crime Drama “ADOLESCENCE” Coming in 2025

Netflix has today revealed the first look at its highly anticipated new crime drama, “Adolescence,” set to debut in 2025. This four-part limited series, created by Stephen Graham and Jack Thorne (Help, Enola Holmes 2, Wonder), promises an intense, real-time exploration of a family’s life thrown into turmoil following a shocking tragedy.

Starring a powerhouse cast led by Graham (“Boiling Point”, Bodies), Ashley Walters (“Top Boy”), and Erin Doherty (“The Crown”), “Adolescence is a must-watch for fans of hard-hitting dramas. The series is directed by Philip Barantini (Enola Holmes 3, Accused), reuniting him with Graham after their critically acclaimed collaboration on the BAFTA-nominated single shot feature Boiling Point. Each episode of “Adolescence” will be filmed in one continuous shot, adding to the immersive, unflinching nature of the narrative.

The plot revolves around 13-year-old Jamie Miller (played by newcomer Owen Cooper in his first major TV role), whose life is upended after he’s arrested for the murder of a classmate. Graham portrays Jamie’s father, Eddie Miller, a man caught between his role as a parent and the legal system’s demands as an “appropriate adult.” Walters stars as Detective Inspector Luke Bascombe, investigating the case, while Doherty plays Briony Ariston, a clinical psychologist brought in to evaluate Jamie.

Additional standout cast members include Faye Marsay (“Game of Thrones”, “Black Mirror”), Christine Tremarco (“The Responder”, “The Gathering”), Mark Stanley (“Criminal: UK”, “Happy Valley”), Jo Hartley (“After Life”, Dead Man’s Shoes), and newcomer Amélie Pease.

The series is produced by Warp Films, Matriarch Productions, and Plan B Entertainment for Netflix. The involvement of Brad Pitt‘s Plan B adds significant excitement for the project. Executive Producers include Mark Herbert and Emily Feller for Warp Films, Stephen Graham and Hannah Walters for Matriarch Productions, Jack Thorne for One Shoe Films, Philip Barantini for It’s All Made Up Productions, and Brad Pitt, Jeremy Kleiner, Dede Gardner and Nina Wolarsky for Plan B Entertainment. Carina Sposato (Plan B Entertainment) , Peter Balm and Niall Shamma (Warp Films) serve as Co-Executive Producers. The Producer is Jo Johnson.

Stay tuned for more details as we approach the series’ release in 2025.
