INTERVIEW: Spider One & Krsy Fox on Crafting an Unflinching Parental Allegory in ‘Little Bites’

Horror enthusiasts can look forward to sinking their teeth into Spider One‘s (Allegoria) latest soul-crushing shocker, Little Bites, when RLJE Films releases the film this Friday, October 4th.

Penned and directed by Spider One, whose personal experiences in parenting serve as the film’s foundation, ‘Little Bites’ offers a raw and honest narrative that lays bare the messy realities and emotional turbulence of raising a child in a world that is often all too quick to scrutinize, judge, and condemn.

The film stars Krsy Fox (Terrifier 3) as Mindy, a young widow and mother, who desperately tries to protect her daughter Alice from the grips of a fiendish, flesh eating monster named Agyar (Jon Sklaroff Gifted). Mindy has been secretly sacrificing her own life by allowing the creature to slowly feast on her body as she keeps Alice hidden away at her grandmother’s home.

The cast also features Elizabeth Caro (The Christmas ChroniclesThe Old Ways), and Chaz Bono (“American Horror Story”, Bury the Bride), together with three of the most revered horror icons: Barbara Crampton (Re-AnimatorSuitable Flesh), Heather Langenkamp (A Nightmare on Elm StreetThe Life of Chuck), and Bonnie Aarons (The NunJakob’s Wife). The film is produced under Spider One and Krsy Fox’s OneFox Productions banner and Executive Produced by Emmy, Grammy, and Oscar winner Cher, Chaz Bono, Tyler Connolly, Ian Hoge, and Wendy Berry.

In anticipation of RLJE’s release of this unflinching allegory for parenthood, CinemaChords’ Ashley Northey interviewed Spider One and Fox. They discussed how the antagonist symbolizes the myriad of difficult decisions, nagging self-doubts, moments of overwhelming joy, and utter exhaustion that parents face daily, how Fox connected deeply with her character, Mindy, as soon as she read the script and was eager to explore the journey it promised. They also hope that the film will challenge and enlighten audiences, encouraging them to reckon with their own preconceptions about the realities of raising a child when Little Bites releases in theaters and everywhere you rent movies on October 4th, 2024.
