Dark Sky Films is primed to unleashed a brand new werewolf tale that is guranteed to leave you drooling. Blackout, the latest shocker from master of horror Larry Fessenden will be sinking its canines into digital platforms and VOD this Friday, April 12, 2024.
Fessenden’s blood-curdling story follows Charley (Alex Hurt – “Bonding”), a troubled artist and alcoholic. After getting blackout drunk one night his artwork suddenly changes: Peaceful landscapes give way to dark, unsettling portraits. Now, newly sober, Charley slips into a (rather hairy) existential crisis as he comes to realize he’s a werewolf.
To celebrate the film’s release this Friday, CinemaChords’ Ashley Northey caught up with Fessenden to discuss his unique chilling and atmospheric style we know and love, and how he felt that this particular take on well-trodden tropes would provide fertile ground to further shake up the many metaphorical meanings that have become attached to werewolf lore over the years.
