Alex Pettyfer Interview: Dealing with Hard-Hitting Themes and Moral Quandaries in Phil Allocco’s ‘5LBS OF PRESSURE’

When family, betrayal, and redemption collide, the stakes are high in Phil Allocco’s gritty new drama 5 Lbs of Pressure. Allocco, known for his award-winning feature The Truth About Lies, takes us on an emotional rollercoaster ride as ex-con Luke Evans seeks forgiveness from the son he abandoned after 16 years in prison for murder. But when their lives become entangled with a young man desperate to break free of his uncle’s criminal empire, the inescapable violence of their world comes crashing down in this story of salvation against the odds.

With a talented ensemble including Alex Pettyfer, Rory Culkin, and Rudy Pankow, Allocco’s narrative pulls no punches. In an exclusive interview ahead of this Friday’s release of the film on digital and on demand in the US and Canada (streaming in the UK on Prime Video 24 April via Signature Entertainment), Pettyfer gave CinemaChords’ Ashley Northey insight into the film’s hard-hitting themes, complex relationships and moral dilemmas. He also went on to express excitement for audiences to see him next in Guy Ritchie’s The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare.
