Hi, what are you looking for?

Box Office

I will look for you, I will find you, and I will play your son: Liam Neeson to Star in ‘NAKED GUN’ Reboot

Paramount Pictures gave a surprise announcement yesterday with the reveal of their newest blockbuster comedy sequel, coming July 18, 2025. The studio announced that Liam Neeson will be stepping into the legendary comedic shoes of Leslie Nielsen’s bumbling Inspector Frank Drebin in a reboot of the beloved Naked Gun and “Police Squad!” franchises.

This casting news left fans wondering if Neeson has what it takes to fill Nielsen’s oversized shoes but we think it’s great to see Neeson branch out of his Taken pigeon hole to try his comedy chops out for size. What we do know is that he has are a very particular set of skills; skills he has acquired over a very long career so we’re sure he can handle this situation maturely, just like the responsible adult that he is. “Isn’t that right, Mr. Poopy Pants?”

Akiva Schaffer (Chip ‘n Dale: Rescue Rangers, Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping) will direct and executive produce with Dan Gregor & Doug Mand (Dolittle, Chip ‘n Dale: Rescue Rangers), Mark Hentemann (“Family Guy”), Seth MacFarlane (“Family Guy,” Ted), and Alec Sulkin (“Family Guy,” Ted) having written the draft script along with Schaffer.

No further cast details have been revealed and the only plot information revealed thus far is that the film will be a sequel to Naked Gun 33 1/3: The Final Insult, following the misadventures of Detective Frank Drebin’s son, Frank Drebin jr.

Seth MacFarlane and Erica Huggins are producing under their Fuzzy Door banner.

It’s still a fair way off but we can’t wait to get a nice beaver of the trailer as soon as it releases…
