James Gunn Shares Encouraging Update on ‘SUPERMAN: LEGACY’ Audition Process

After what James Gunn has described as an, “amazing, amazing weekend of auditions for Superman: Legacy’, the American filmmaker and recently-appointed co-head of DC Studios took to the new social platform Bluesky social to offer some insight into how the casting process was going:

“I’m blown away by some of these actors, among the best I’ve ever seen or worked with.”

As per the official synopsis, the new film will follow Superman as he reconciles his heritage with his human upbringing. He is the embodiment of truth, justice and the American way in a world that views kindness as old-fashioned.

Gunn’s Superman update follows another recent statement from the director that revealed he was narrowing the shortlist of possible actors to take over the role of the Man of Steel. Speaking on “Inside of You with Michael Rosenbaum”, he also used the opportunity to quash rumours surrounding possible contenders for the role. To date, various names have been rumoured to be in the running, including Nicholas Hoult (Renfield, Mad Max, X-Men Apocalypse), David Corenswet (Pearl, “The Politician”) and Tom Brittney (“Grantchester,” Greyhound). Candidates reportedly in the running to play Lois Lane are Emma Mackey (Barbie, “Sex Education”), Rachel Brosnahan (Dead for a Dollar, “The Marvelous Mrs Maisel”) and Phoebe Dynevor (Fair Play, “Bridgerton”).
