RLJE Films and Shudder Acquire Jason Eisener’s “KIDS VS. ALIENS” Ahead of Fantastic Fest World Premiere

Ahead of this month’s Fantastic Fest world premiere of the horror/sci-fi feature, Kids vs. Aliens, RLJE Films, a business unit of AMC Networks, and Shudder, have announced having fully financed and partnered on the highly-anticipated new endeavor from Canuxploitation favorite, Jason Eisener (Hobo with a Shotgun, V/H/S/2, and Vice TV’s hit “Dark Side of the Ring” franchise).

Helmed by Eisener, from a script he co-wrote with constant cohort John Davies (Hobo with a Shotgun), and based on their “Slumber Party Alien Abduction” segment of V/H/S/2, Kids vs. Aliens takes place at an all-time rager of a teen Halloween house party that turns all kinds of awry when aliens attack, forcing two warring siblings to band together to survive the night.

The film stars Dominic Mariche (“Are You Afraid of the Dark?,” “Team Zenko Go”), Phoebe Rex (“The Last Divide”), Calem MacDonald (“The Umbrella Academy”), Asher Grayson Percival (“Scaredy Cats”), and Ben Tector.

Commenting on the pick-up, RLJE Films’ Chief Acquisitions Officer, Mark Ward said: “Kids vs. Aliens is everything that I love about film and takes me back to what made me fall in love with movies as a kid … To be able to partner with our friends at Shudder to bring Jason Eisener’s instant-classic film to audiences today is beyond thrilling for us.”

Brad Miska (V/H/S), Josh Goldbloom (V/H/S/99), Jason Levangie (Night Blooms), Marc Tetreault (“Moonshine”), and Rob Cotterill (Possessor) serve as producers on the film and  Ward and Betsy Rodgers from RLJE Films negotiated the deal with Goldbloom and Miska on behalf of the filmmakers.

RLJE Films will release the film In Theaters, on Demand and Digital in early 2023 with a Shudder release to follow later in the year.

This nostalgic homage to timeless childhood ’80s classics, spiced up with foul-mouthed dialogue and gallons of gore, will screen at this year’s Fantastic Fest on Friday, September 23rd and Thursday, September 29th. For full details of all screenings, head on over to the festival website here.
