NOTEWORTHY #1: CinemaChords Meets STANLEYS

As announced last week, today sees the launch of “Noteworthy,” a weekly videocast featuring interviews with bands who we hope are either already or, about to become, your new favourite artists.

Kicking things off is Wigan four-piece Stanleys, a band we’re sure many of you may well be aware of as they’ve been causing quite the stir over the last couple of years, despite whatever Covid and lockdown have thrown at them, and just last week announced having joined forces with JMB Music Group and CAA.

Armed with tracks that evoke some of the North West’s greatest musicians, from The Smiths through to last year’s overnight success story, The Lathums, Tom Concannon’s unique vocals and candid, cordial lyrics, buoyed by Jake Dorsman (guitar), Harry Ivory (bass) and Rob Hilton’s (drums and backing vocals) catchy arrangements are guaranteed to hook you in in an instant. And, coupled with numerous supporting slots at sell-out shows with The Lathums, Jamie Webster, and Lottery Winners, it’s no surprise that Stanleys’ fanbase has skyrocketed overnight – so much so that their debut EP, “The Look Back” entered the UK top 5 vinyl singles chart alongside Sam Fender and Billie Eilish last week.

CinemaChords’ Howard Gorman caught up with the band to congratulate them on their new partnership with JMB and CAA, and to find out how they’ve adapted to the pandemic times we live in to keep the “band-loyal fan bond” alive, and when we can expect their second EP – currently in the mixing stage…

You can keep up to date with everything Stanleys-related on Twitter, Facebook, and Spotify.

Be sure to check out CinemaChord’s “Noteworthy Nods” every Thursday to discover a selection of some of the buzziest new musicians on the music scene right now.

As always, don’t be a stranger! Please send any recommendations or track submissions to us over on Twitter and Instagram. We look forward to hearing from you and hope you enjoy the tracks we’ve picked out for you this week.
