Universal Announce UK Release Date for Humanistic Supernatural Thriller ‘YOU WON’T BE ALONE’

Following its buzzy premiere at this year’s Sundance Film Festival, Universal Pictures has today announced the UK release date for Macedonian-Australian filmmaker Goran Stolevski’s (one of Variety’s ‘10 directors to watch for 2022’) feature directorial debut, the haunting 19th-century-set folk horror film You Won’t Be Alone.

Written and directed by Stolevski, and starring Noomi Rapace (Lamb, Child 44), Anamaria Marinca (Fury, Five Minutes of Heaven), Alice Englert (The Power of the Dog, Beautiful Creatures), Carloto Cotta, Félix Maritaud (Lux Aeterna), and Sara Klimoska, You Won’t Be Alone brims with vital and meaningful metaphors as it chronicles the tale of 200-year-old witch Maria (Marinca) who abducts a 16-year-old Nevena (Klimoska) to raise as her own. But after transforming this young village girl into one of her own kind, Maria quickly loses interest in her protégée. Abandoned in the woods, and growing increasingly more curious about how humans lead their lives, she ends up accidentally killing a peasant girl in the village and “borrows” her body to experience life in her skin. This then triggers her burning desire to experience life from the perspective of even more people’s bodies.

You Won’t Be Alone will release on digital platforms to rent and to own from 20 October, 2022 and in the meantime, we’ll leave you with the official UK trailer to give you a glimpse into how such a sinister soul can find themselves fascinated, and ultimately empathising with humanity…
