Uncovering the Truth: Timed to Abraham Lincoln’s 125th birthday Apple Goes Behind-the-Scenes of “Manhunt”

To celebrate Abraham Lincoln’s 125th birthday today, Apple TV+ has released an exclusive behind-the-scenes glimpse into the production of “Manhunt,” the highly anticipated limited series based on James L. Swanson’s acclaimed “The New York Times” bestseller and Edgar Award winning non-fiction book.

Created by Emmy-nominated Monica Beletsky (“Fargo,” “The Leftovers”) and featuring an all-star cast including Emmy Award winner Tobias Menzies (“The Crown,” “The Terror”), Anthony Boyle (Tetris, “Masters of the Air”), Lovie Simone (“Greenleaf”), Will Harrison (“Daisy Jones & The Six”), Brandon Flynn (“13 Reasons Why”), Damian O’Hare (“Hatfields & McCoys”), Glenn Morshower (“The Resident”), Patton Oswalt (“A.P. Bio”), Matt Walsh (“Veep”), and Hamish Linklater (The Big Short, “Midnight Mass”), “Manhunt” is a gripping conspiracy thriller that delves into one of history’s most infamous crimes: the relentless pursuit of John Wilkes Booth in the aftermath of the assassination of Abraham Lincoln.

“Manhunt” is produced by Apple Studios and co-produced by Lionsgate Television, in association with POV Entertainment, Walden Media, 3 Arts Entertainment, Dovetale Productions and Monarch Pictures. Beletsky, Franklin, Layne Eskridge, and Kate Barry executive produce. Swanson, author of “Manhunt: The 12-Day Chase for Lincoln’s Killer” also serves as executive producer alongside Michael Rotenberg, Richard Abate, Frank Smith and Naia Cucukov.

This seven-part true crime limited series is set to make its global debut on Apple TV+ with the first two episodes airing on Friday, March 15, and episodes will debut weekly on Fridays through April 19, 2024. Until then, we’ll leave you with the aforementioned featurette in which showrunner and executive producer Beletsky along with series stars Menzies, Boyle, Harrison, Simone, Oswalt and Linklater discuss the inspiration for one of the best known but least understood crimes in history and how this television adaptation came to be.
