Horror legend Tom Savini is the latest star to be announced for HorrorCon UK, which is taking over Magna in Rotherham on 11 and 12 July.
Recognisable to many as “Sex Machine” in From Dusk Til Dawn, Savini first made his name as an award-winning special effects and makeup creator on films like Dawn of the Dead and Friday the 13th. Savini later turned to directing, including the 1990 Night of the Living Dead remake, whilst his acting and stuntman credits include Django Unchained, Planet Terror and Machete.
Other special guests announced so far include Leatherface actor Gunnar Hansen (The Texas Chainsaw Massacre), Dacre Stoker (great-grand nephew of Bram Stoker), Ken Foree (Dawn of the Dead), legendary special effects master Mike Peel (V for Vendetta, Casino Royale, The Descent) and Hammer Horror stars Caroline Munro and Martine Beswick for signings and talks across two days of gory fun.
Further entertainment comes with comedy lectures from the Zombie Institute for Theoretical Studies, paranormal investigations with Project Reveal, and a scare attraction from PUP Events. Several short films will be showing over the weekend, and there will also be an afterparty at the Showroom Cinema on the Saturday night.
Ticket prices start at £15 for a day ticket. For more details, see http://horrorconventions.co.
