High-Concept Monster Chaos Returns: “Monarch: Legacy of Monsters” Season 2 Premieres February 27

Apple TV has announced that Season 2 of “Monarch: Legacy of Monsters” will premiere globally on Friday, February 27 with the first episode, followed by weekly releases every Friday through May 1. Alongside the announcement, the streamer shared a teaser trailer, offering a glimpse of the monster-laden adventures ahead.

Season one followed two siblings as they uncovered their family’s hidden connection to the enigmatic organization known as Monarch. Their investigation drew them into a world of colossal monsters and eventually intersected with Army officer Lee Shaw (portrayed by Kurt Russell and Wyatt Russell). The story spans the 1950s and the present day, exploring how the secrets of the past continue to threaten Monarch – and the world.

Fans will be pleased to hear that Kurt Russell returns as Lee Shaw. At the end of Season 1, his fate was left uncertain: the older Lee stayed behind to repair a malfunctioning portal designed to bring the crew back to Earth, but fell from the Monarch ship and was pulled into Hollow Earth. Season 2 picks up with the consequences of that decision, as hidden truths resurface, heroes and villains converge on Kong’s Skull Island, and a new, mysterious village becomes the stage for a mythical Titan to rise from the sea. The events of the past ripple into the present, testing loyalties and reshaping the line between family, friend, and foe – all against the looming threat of a Titan-level disaster.

Joining the returning cast are Anna Sawai, Kiersey Clemons, Ren Watabe, Mari Yamamoto, Joe Tippett, and Anders Holm.

From Legendary Television, “Monarch: Legacy of Monsters” is executive produced by Joby Harold and Tory Tunnell of Safehouse Pictures, alongside Chris Black, Jen Roskind, Matt Shakman, Andrew Colville, and Lawrence Trilling – with Trilling directing four episodes. Colville also wrote two episodes and serves as executive producer, while Black returns as showrunner for Season 2. Hiro Matsuoka and Takemasa Arita executive produce on behalf of Toho Co., Ltd., the owners of Godzilla.
