Deliver Us From Evil Delivers New Trailer

Horror can thank Scott Derrickson for his contribution to the genre.

Off the success of Sinister with Ethan Hawke, he’s returning to the genre that he loves so much with Deliver Us From Evil starring Eric Bana.

Based on the “true” (depending on your own belief) events of NYPD sergeant Ralph Sarchie who is investigating a series of tragic, violent crimes with a priest (played by Edgar Ramirez) they team up to bring the exorcism, supernatural and police procedural sub-genres together to create a chilling horror that follows our unfortunate hero to his home, torturing his family as well as him. The trailer already promises good scares, cutting before the big moments but hinting towards their tense build-up.

Hopefully Scott Derrickson’s kids (stars of his Vines) do not see the trailer of inanimate toys coming to life or he may regret the decision to hit us with the innocent. Derrickson is immensely talented at making the ordinary utterly terrifying. Sinister managed to make a lawnmower scary. The Exorcism of Emily Rose made sharing a bed with your partner scary. Now it’s children’s toys but that’s only from the trailer. It could certainly promise much more mistrust in our surroundings, like the best horror films do. Check out the trailer below and let us know your thoughts.
