Creatures Clash in ‘Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets’ First Trailer

Following the success of Lucy, Luc Besson, the legendary mind behind the likes of Leon and The Fifth Element is back! The French filmmaker’s latest, visually spectacular sci-fi adventure Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets arrives based on the ground-breaking comic book series, created by writer Pierre Christin and artist Jean-Claude Mézières, which inspired a generation of artists, writers and filmmakers. And, in anticipation, a wild ride of a trailer basking in a special effects paradise has just landed via Lionsgate!

Starring quite the ensemble cast with the likes of Dane DeHaan, Cara Delevingne, Rihanna, John Goodman, Ethan Hawke, Clive Owen and Rutger Hauer, Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets finds Valerian (Dane DeHaan) and Laureline (Cara Delevingne), a team of 28th century special operatives, charged with maintaining order throughout the human territories. Under assignment from the Minister of Defense, they embark on a mission to the city of Alpha – an ever-expanding metropolis where species from all over the universe have converged over centuries to share knowledge, intelligence and cultures with each other. There’s a mystery at the center of Alpha, a dark force which threatens the peaceful existence of the City of a Thousand Planets, and Valerian and Laureline must race to identify the marauding menace and safeguard not just Alpha, but the future of the universe.

With the stunning sci-fi adventure coming to UK cinemas in Summer 2017, there’s not too long to wait. But in the meanwhile, we’ll leave you with the aforementioned space opera spectacular of a trailer. Feast your eyes on this!
