Chaos, Combat, and Charisma Collide in Prime Video’s ‘Heads of State’ Trailer Featuring John Cena and Idris Elba

Prime Video has released the first official trailer for Heads of State, a hard-hitting action-comedy directed by Ilya Naishuller (Hardcore Henry, Nobody) and set to wreak international havoc on July 2.

Reuniting The Suicide Squad co-stars John Cena and Idris Elba, the film casts them as the U.S. President and the U.K. Prime Minister, respectively. When both become targets of a dangerous foreign enemy, the two rival leaders must reluctantly join forces. They’re joined by MI6 agent Noel Bisset (Priyanka Chopra Jonas), as they work together to stop a global conspiracy that threatens the free world.

The screenplay, penned by Josh Appelbaum & André Nemec and Harrison Query, promises a blend of high-octane action and sharp-witted banter, channeling the spirit of classic ’90s buddy comedies — all delivered through Naishuller’s inimitable, immersive directorial style.

Alongside Cena, Elba, and Chopra Jonas, the ensemble cast includes Carla Gugino, Jack Quaid, Stephen Root, Sarah Niles, Richard Coyle, and Paddy Considine.

Heads of State is produced by Peter Safran and John Rickard, with executive producers Marcus Viscidi, Josh Appelbaum, André Nemec, John Cena, and Idris Elba.
