Apple TV+ has released the official trailer and artwork for its gripping new crime drama series “Smoke,” set to make its global debut on June 27, 2025. The series, which reunites the creative team behind the acclaimed limited drama “Black Bird,” stars and is executive produced by Emmy Award nominee Taron Egerton.
“Smoke” features Egerton as Dave Gudsen, a seasoned arson investigator, who is reluctantly forced to team up with police detective Michelle Calderone, played by Emmy Award nominee Jurnee Smollett. Together, they race against time to stop two dangerous arsonists, only to find themselves tangled in a web of secrets, lies, and suspicion.
Created and written by Dennis Lehane, “Smoke” is inspired by true events and draws from the acclaimed Firebug podcast by Truth.media. Lehane, known for his masterful crime storytelling, executive produces the series.
In addition to Egerton and Smollett, the ensemble cast includes Rafe Spall, Ntare Guma Mbaho Mwine, Hannah Emily Anderson, Emmy Award nominee Anna Chlumsky, Adina Porter, Academy Award and Emmy Award nominee Greg Kinnear, and Emmy Award winner John Leguizamo.
“Smoke” also features an atmospheric soundtrack, with Thom Yorke – frontman of Radiohead and The Smile – composing and performing the show’s haunting main title called “Dialling In.” Previously performed on the live circuit under the title “Gawpers,” the track is now available on Apple Music and all major streaming platforms. Yorke also recently dropped Tall Tales, a new collaborative album with electronic producer Mark Pritchard.
The series will premiere with the first two episodes on June 27, 2025, followed by weekly episodes every Friday through August 15, 2025. Directed by Kari Skogland, Joe Chappelle, and Jim McKay, Smoke promises to be a must-watch thriller that will leave viewers hooked until the very end.
Hailing from Apple Studios, Smoke is executive produced by Richard Plepler of EDEN Productions, Bradley Thomas and Dan Friedkin of Imperative Entertainment, and Kari Skogland, Joe Chappelle, and Jane Bartelme. Executive producers also include Kary Antholis and Marc Smerling, both renowned for their work on Firebug.
