It’s-a Trailer Time! ‘The Super Mario Galaxy Movie’ Levels Up with First Trailer and Star-Studded Cast Announcement

The Mushroom Kingdom is ready to blast off once more with Universal Pictures and Illumination having today unveiled both the full voice cast and the first trailer for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, an interstellar sequel to 2023’s The Super Mario Bros. Movie — the blockbuster that powered past $1.3 billion worldwide and reignited the joy of Nintendo’s most iconic universe on the big screen.

Reuniting much of the creative power behind the first film, the cosmic adventure sees directors Aaron Horvath and Michael Jelenic returning to the helm, with Matthew Fogel once again penning the screenplay and Brian Tyler reprising his role as composer. Produced by Chris Meledandri of Illumination and Shigeru Miyamoto of Nintendo, the project continues the partnership between Universal Pictures and Nintendo, who will once again co-finance the film, with Universal handling worldwide distribution.

Joining returning stars Chris Pratt, Anya Taylor-Joy, Charlie Day, Jack Black, Keegan-Michael Key, and Kevin Michael Richardson, the new film welcomes Benny Safdie and Brie Larson to the ensemble.

Plot details remain largely under wraps, but it has been revealed that the story will chronicle Mario, Luigi, and Princess Peach as they embark on an adventure to the far reaches of space and across the galaxy, picking up after the events of the first film.

The Super Mario Galaxy Movie will be released worldwide by Universal Pictures this April.
