Breakups are messy. Sharing a dog after one? That’s a whole different breed of complicated!
Prime Video has today unleashed the official trailer for Merv, a heartwarming comedy landing on the streaming platform this December 10.
Directed by Olivier Award-winning Jessica Swale (Summerland, Horrible Histories) and written by Dane Clark & Linsey Stewart (Suze), the film tells the story of Anna (Zooey Deschanel – Dreamin’ Wild, The Driftless Area) and Russ (Charlie Cox – King of Thieves, “Daredevil”), whose split leaves them navigating the world’s most awkward co-parenting arrangement: their beloved dog, Merv. When Merv loses his wag after the breakup, Russ whisks him off to Florida for a getaway – but as life would have it, Anna shows up unexpectedly.
As Merv slowly gets his wag back, his owners may realise that helping their dog heal could also help mend their own hearts. Brimming with laughs, tender moments, and a pooch who clearly steals every scene, the trailer teases a feel-good story – and a little paws for thought for anyone who knows that love sometimes comes with paws and a wagging tail.
Produced by Matthew Baer and Roma Downey, Merv makes its debut on Prime Video on 10 December.
