Apple TV+ Reveals First Stills and Premiere Date for Season Two of “The Last Thing He Told Me”

Apple TV+ has today revealed a first look and confirmed that the second season of The Last Thing He Told Me will premiere globally on Friday, February 20, 2026.

Jennifer Garner returns once again as both star and executive producer, reuniting with Angourie Rice, David Morse and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, while welcoming new cast members Judy Greer and Rita Wilson to the unfolding mystery.

The new season is based on The First Time I Saw Him, the forthcoming sequel to Laura Dave’s bestselling novel The Last Thing He Told Me, which was originally selected for Reese Witherspoon’s Book Club. Said sequel is due to be published on 6 January 2026 via Apple Books, giving readers the chance to discover the source material ahead of the show’s return.

Set five years after the events of the first season, the story picks up when Owen (Coster-Waldau) finally resurfaces after years spent on the run. His return throws Hannah (Garner) and her stepdaughter Bailey (Rice) into a tense emotional whirlwind as they attempt to rebuild a sense of trust and family while also confronting the consequences of the past. The reunion they’ve longed for comes with complications that spiral into a race against time. Instead of answers, Owen’s reappearance may bring even more danger, forcing Hannah and Bailey to rediscover what they mean to each other as the world they thought they had escaped comes crashing back.

The second season sees the return of familiar faces Augusto Aguilera, Josh Hamilton, Nick Hargrove, Michael Galante, John Noble, Michael Hyatt and Luke Kirby.

Produced by 20th Television and Hello Sunshine, the series continues to be shepherded by Laura Dave and Academy Award-winner Josh Singer, who created and adapted the story together. Season two also sees the arrival of Emmy Award nominee Aaron Zelman as co-showrunner alongside Singer, with Garner, Reese Witherspoon and Lauren Neustadter among the returning executive producers, alongside Daisy von Scherler Mayer and Merri D. Howard.

The first season of “The Last Thing He Told Me” remains available to stream on Apple TV+, and the novel it was based on continues to be embraced around the world, having sold more than 5 million copies and logged over 80 weeks on the New York Times bestseller list after being selected for Reese’s Book Club.
