SEND HELP: Sam Raimi Returns with a New Dark Thriller Set to Rattle Audiences in 2026

A new poster and trailer have landed for Send Help, the upcoming psychological thriller from 20th Century Studios – and it marks a very welcome return to original, pitch-black storytelling from director Sam Raimi. Known for cult horror classics like The Evil Dead and mainstream hits like Spider-Man, Raimi here turns his attention to a tale of survival, tension, and twisted humour.

Starring Rachel McAdams (Spotlight, Are You There God? It’s Me, Margaret., Mean Girls) and Dylan O’Brien (Twinless, Saturday Night), Send Help follows two workplace colleagues who become the sole survivors of a plane crash. Stranded on a deserted island, they must not only face the elements but each other—revealing fractures, grievances, and a shifting power struggle that becomes anything but predictable.

The trailer kicks things off with the unmistakable fingerprints of Raimi, carrying a Drag Me to Hell aesthetic before giving way to something far more primal. Once stranded, the roles reverse and the narrative flips gears — starting out with the isolation of Cast Away, before descending into the kind of brutal, unpredictable chaos recently seen in Bone Lake.

Speaking about the film, Raimi says: “I’ve always loved stories where interesting, dynamic characters are pushed to extremes. In our story, the power shifts create an escalating situation that’s brimming with unexpected turns and suspense.”

The film is penned by genre regulars Damian Shannon and Mark Swift (Freddy vs. Jason, Friday the 13th), with a score from longtime Raimi collaborator Danny Elfman (The Nightmare Before Christmas, Batman). Raimi produces the film alongside Zainab Azizi (65), with JJ Hook (The Amateur) serving as executive producer.

The supporting cast features Edyll Ismail (“La Brea”), Dennis Haysbert (Far from Heaven), Xavier Samuel (Elvis), Chris Pang (Crazy Rich Asians), Thaneth Warakulnukroh (“Thai Cave Rescue”), and Emma Raimi (Happy Pills).

With Sam Raimi at the helm — never one to shy away from putting his characters through the wringer — and a crew that knows how to mix horror, dark laughs, and raw emotion just right, Send Help is one you won’t want to miss when it arrives in cinemas nationwide on January 30, 2026.
