High Stakes and High Action: James Bamford Talks the Thrills and Tension in His Latest Directorial Feature, ‘HIGH GROUND’

Republic Pictures is ready to make a statement with their latest thriller, High Ground, directed by James Bamford. Known for his stunt work on “Arrow” and Hard Home, Bamford brings his high-energy, action-packed style to a gripping, character-driven story. Moving from intense choreography to thrilling suspense, High Ground delivers a drama full of tension and high stakes.

Starring Charlie Weber (“How To Get Away With Murder”), Katherine McNamara (“Arrow,” “Shadowhunters: The Mortal Instruments”), Henry Thomas (“Midnight Mass,” E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial), and the legendary Jon Voight (Midnight Cowboy, Deliverance), the film is set in a desolate border town. When a mysterious prisoner ignites the fury of a ruthless cartel, the sheriff’s fragile world is upended, plunging him into a fight for survival and loyalty in the violent underworld.

Written by John Thaddeus, based on Bill Sondheim’s story, the screenplay also features a strong supporting cast, including Dustin Ingram (Good Trouble), James Oliver Wheatley (5lbs of Pressure), and Skyler Shaye.

Ahead of the film’s digital release on March 18, 2025, CinemaChords sat down with Bamford to discuss the explosive action and unforgettable performances in High Ground. Bamford also shares insights into how his years in the stunt industry shaped his approach to directing this thrilling ride.
