In Interview: Kyle Falconer Reveals How Women Inspired His Latest Acoustic Album ‘THE ONE I LOVE THE MOST’

Kyle Falconer is back with something special – and it’s something you’ll definitely want to treat yourself to. His new acoustic album, The One I Love The Most, out on February 7th, just ahead of Valentine’s Day, is a personal, stripped-back collection of songs that gets right to the heart of his music. Inspired by the women who have shaped his life, the tracks take you on a journey through his prolific body of work, offering a fresh, more intimate take on some of his most enduring hits. It’s like revisiting these songs in a completely new light – raw, candid, and delivered straight from the heart. The album features a mix of reworked classics from both his solo releases and his work with The View, including tracks like “Claudia” and “Dixie.” This intimate collection lets listeners experience Falconer’s lyrics in their purest form, connecting to the raw emotion behind the songs in a way they’ve never heard before. If you’ve followed his work over the years, you’re in for a real treat.

The album’s title, inspired by a line from The View’s fan-favorite “5 Rebeccas,” is a testament to Falconer’s evolution as a songwriter. Reflecting on almost two decades of music, the project invites listeners on a journey through Falconer’s personal and musical growth, from the playful innocence of “Claudia” to the introspective complexities of “Kelly.” A guest appearance by Manchester rapper PROSE on the track “Lucy” adds another layer to this already dynamic collection.

As Falconer prepares for the launch of his latest solo album, CinemaChords’ Howard Gorman caught up with the singer/songwriter to discuss the inspiration behind The One I Love The Most and the creative process that shaped it. While no concrete plans are in place yet, Falconer revealed that recording new material with The View is what he thinks is most likely on the cards next, after wrapping up this solo project. For now, though, his focus is on delivering an intimate, acoustic experience that reflects the women who have shaped his musical legacy.

The One I Love The Most is now available for pre-order here, with six limited edition vinyl formats, including a special Obi Edition available exclusively through Assai Records.
