Trailer for ‘Until Dawn’ Reveals Fresh Characters and New Deadly Loops in David F. Sandberg’s Feature Adaptation

Sony Pictures Entertainment has released the first official trailer for David F. Sandberg‘s (Annabelle: Creation, Lights Out) Until Dawn, the live-action adaptation of the popular PlayStation horror game, marking its 10th anniversary this year.

Directed by Sandberg and written by Blair Butler (The Invitation, Polaroid) and Gary Dauberman (It, Annabelle series, The Nun series), Until Dawn follows Clover, a year after her sister Melanie’s mysterious disappearance. In search of answers, Clover and her friends venture into the remote valley where Melanie vanished. There, they explore an abandoned visitor center, only to be stalked and killed by a masked killer—waking up at the start of the same night. Trapped in a deadly loop, they must survive increasingly terrifying threats, realizing that with each death, they have fewer chances to escape before dawn.

PlayStation Productions and Sony Pictures have been working closely with Sandberg and Dauberman to translate Until Dawn to the big screen in such a way as ensure that the movie wasn’t just a retelling but rather a story featuring fresh characters in a new, original story. The full ensemble cast of these new characters comprises of Ella Rubin (Anora, The Idea of You), Michael Cimino (Annabelle Comes Home), Odessa A’zion (Hellraiser, The Inhabitant), Ji-young Yoo (Smoking Tigers, Moxie), Belmont Cameli (Along for the Ride), Maia Mitchell (“Good Trouble”, “The Artful Dodger”) and Peter Stormare (John Wick: Chapter 2, Clown, “Prison Break”).

Stormare played Dr. Hill in the game and the film will explore his character’s involvement in the events of the game, raising questions for fans to explore. Commenting on the project, he said, “I have been lucky to be part of Until Dawn since the original, incredible, super terrifying game, and that’s why I’m so excited to be part of this film, because the whole thing is a love letter to horror, and it completely honors the spirit of the game. The movie is going to be full of fresh characters and victims in a brand-new story, loaded with twists. So whether you’re a longtime fan or you’re discovering it for the first time, get ready for Until Dawn like you’ve never seen it before.”

The film is produced by Asad Qizilbash, Carter Swan, David F. Sandberg, Lotta Losten, Roy Lee, Gary Dauberman, and Mia Maniscalco and Exec. produced by Charles Miller and Hermen Hulst.

Until Dawn will release exclusively in Movie Theaters April 25, 2025 and to raise expectation one hundred fold, we’ll leave you with the aforementioned trailer debut:
