Party Like it’s 1999 as A24 Drops New Trailer for Riotous Dial-Up Disaster Comedy ‘Y2K’

Party like it’s 1999, die like it’s Y2K.

Ahead of its nationwide theatrical release on December 6, A24 has unveiled a new trailer for Y2K, the dial-up disaster comedy that marks SNL alum Kyle Mooney‘s feature directorial debut.

Directed by Mooney, from a script he co-wrote with Evan Winter, the film stars Jaeden Martell (It, Knives Out, Arcadian), Rachel Zegler (The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes, West Side Story), Julian Dennison (Deadpool 2, Godzilla vs. Kong), The Kid Laroi, Alicia Silverstone (Reptile, Perpetrator), Tim Heidecker (Us, The Comedy), and Fred Durst (I Saw the TV Glow).

Taking place on the last night of 1999, the film follows two high school students who crash a New Year’s Eve party, only to face a fight for survival when the Y2K bug brings technology to life and turns it against humanity.

Weta Workshop, known for their work on films ranging from Braindead and The Frighteners to Mad Max: Fury Road, Dune, and Alien: Covenant, worked on the film’s design and practical effects.

Y2K premiered to promising reviews at South by Southwest in March. Now, we’re excited to share the new trailer, which offers a glimpse of the alternative Y2K bug that Mooney has created.
