INTERVIEW: Noah Segan Opens the Casket on Quirky-Yet-Poignant Vampire Horror Comedy ‘BLOOD RELATIVES’

Actor-turned-director Noah Segan‘s (Knives Out, Looper) is all set to let his feature directorial debut,  Blood Relatives, out of the casket as Shudder, AMC Networks’ premium streaming service for horror, thrillers and the supernatural, and Alamo Drafthouse have partnered up for a weeklong U.S. theatrical run of the film ahead of its exclusive premiere on Shudder on Tuesday, November 22.

Written and Directed by Segan, who also co-stars in the film alongside Victoria Moroles (Down a Dark Hall, “Teen Wolf”), Blood Relatives is a quirky yet heartfelt vampire tale which shadows Francis, a 115-year-old Yiddish vampire, who still doesn’t look a day over 35. He’s been cruising the back roads of America for decades in his beat-up muscle car, keeping to himself and relishing in his solitude. But then one day, a teenage girl called Jane shows up claiming to be his daughter, and she’s got the fangs to prove it. And so they take to the road together, deciding whether to sink their teeth into family life.

In anticipation of Blood Relatives getting a theatrical and streaming release, CinemaChords’ Howard Gorman caught up with Segan to find out what it was about this unique spin on terror tropes convinced him to get behind the camera and how becoming a parent himself informed his sui generis take on vampire lore.
