The tautly paced, serpentine Australian murder mystery drama “Troppo,” based on #1 New York Times best-selling author Candice Fox’s “Crimson Lake” is all set to debut next Friday, May 20 on Amazon Freevee, the new name for IMDb TV.
Adapted for television by filmmaker Yolanda Ramke (Cargo), “Troppo” centers around Ted Conkaffey, played by Thomas Jane (The Mist, The Punisher, Deep Blue Sea), a disgraced ex-cop falsely accused of committing a heinous crime, who has fled to the tropics of Far North Queensland. Whilst going out of his way to keep his his head down, he accidentally ends up drawn into investigating a wild murder and a missing person, workin in cahoots with an eccentric private investigator named Amanda Pharrell (played by Nicole Chamoun), who has only been back in town a year, after serving time for a crime she committed as a teenager.
In anticipation of all eight episodes of “Troppo” dropping on Amazon Freevee on Friday, May 20, CinemaChords’ Howard Gorman sat down with author Candice Fox as well as the two stars of the show, Thomas Jane and Nicole Chamoun to find out exactly what went into adapting the first novel in Fox’s gripping crime series and whether there are any plans to adapt the subsequent two novels into future seasons of the television show.
