Trailer for Singular Sci-Fi Drama ‘LANDSCAPE WITH INVISIBLE HAND’ Navigates Bleak Alien Bureaucracy

Welcome to the future, where the entertainment is us!

Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer has just dropped the first official trailer for Cory Finley‘s (Thoroughbreds, Bad Education) brazenly original sci-fi drama, Landscape With Invisible Hand which first premiered at the Sundance Film Festival last January.

Written and directed by Finley, based on M.T. Anderson’s acclaimed eponymous novel published in 2017, and starring Asante Blackk (“This Is Us”), Kylie Rogers (Beau Is Afraid, “Yellowstone”) and Tiffany Haddish (Haunted Mansion, The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent), the film unfolds several years after a benevolent alien occupation of Earth, with the human race still getting to grips with the new world order and its quirky, coffee-table-sized overlords known as the Vuvv. Their fancy, ultra-sophisticated technology initially offered hope of global prosperity, but rendered most human jobs – and steady incomes – a thing of the past. When 17-year-old artist Adam Campbell (Blackk) and his new girlfriend Chloe Marsh (Rogers) realize that the Vuvv share a particular penchant for human love, and are willing to pay a handsome price to witness it, they hatch a plan to livestream their budding romance to earn some extra cash for themselves and their families. Their plan works out at first and life is good for a while, until the flame of their teenage courtship fades and they’re forced to resort to very different, absurdly life-altering sacrifices for their families.

The film’s ensemble cast is rounded out with Josh Hamilton, Michael Gandolfini, William Jackson Harper, and Brooklynn MacKinzie. Dede Gardner and Jeremy Kleiner are producing with Brad Pitt, Gabby Shepard, David Kern, M.T. Anderson, Megan Ellison, and Tiffany Haddish serving as executive producers.

Landscape With Invisible Hand will release exclusively in theaters on August 18, 2023 and is rated R for language and brief violent content.
