Indie singer-songwriter Jamie Webster has today dropped his latest deeply felt, proudly sung anthemic single, ‘Sing Your Tears’ (listen here); a song that lauds the bravery it takes for anyone to openly share their pain when going through though times. Destined to be yet another festival field filled for Webster, the song’s emotional content is complemented with upbeat meoldies to celebrate the essential, simple joys of throwing your arms around each other and singing the roof loose.
Webster’s 2024 is already shaping up to be a momentous one, with not only a 40,000-capacity homecoming show at Liverpool’s Sefton Park this summer, but also the imminent release of his third studio album, 10 For The People, due out on Friday 2 February 2024 on Modern Sky.
Today’s release was recorded with acclaimed producer Dave Eringa (Manic Street Preachers, Kylie Minogue) and matches the consistency in Webster’s motivations with bolder and braver adventures in both sound and songwriting.
Commenting on the new track, Webster said, “‘Sing Your Tears’ is a song about raising awareness to speak up if you’re feeling down. In this song the word ‘sing’ is sometimes used as a metaphor for talking and speaking out. But at the same time, sometimes singing itself just makes you feel better and lifts your mood. The “da da da da’s” are a symbol of everyone coming together to sing their tears away.”
Crafting songs with meticulous care at both residential studios, including the legendary Rockfield Studios in south Wales, and now his own facility in Liverpool, the measured additions of brass, strings, beats and lush, layered vocals across many of the 11 tracks heard on ’10 For The People,’ provide proof of an increasingly confident artist. Admitting that festival main stages are front of mind when he writes, Webster’s also gives in to key influences, such as key players in the Laurel Canyon scene like Crosby Stills & Nash, alongside undisputed songwriting giants like Paul McCartney, Bob Dylan and Paul Simon.
Setting out on this album campaign with the rousing summer single, Voice Of The Voiceless, following up with his Billy Bragg-collaborative ode to the door-to-door-salesman, Fickle Fran, Webster quickly set the highest of expectations for the album. Always watching world events, near and far, Webster’s latest release was in December, revealing 10 For The People’s closing track, and more traditional, acoustically-driven protest song, How Do You Sleep At Night? All proceeds from that song are being donated to the British Red Cross. You can make your own personal donations to the British Red Cross at https://www.redcross.org.uk/get-involved/donate
Webster’s 2024 tour and festival plans will revolve around his homecoming in July, which will see him perform in front of his biggest audience yet. Prior to that, he’ll embark on a string of intimate in-store dates to meet fans and play low-key acoustic sets in the run-up to the release of ’10 For The People.’ The confirmed Jamie Webster live dates to date for 2024 are as follows:
