Brand-New Bangers: Noteworthy Nods 2024 – Batch 2

We are just a matter of weeks into 2024 and it’s already shaping up to be a year in which indie rock will dominate the music scene, as Shed Seven deservedly topped the UK album charts for the first time and we got our first taste of Liam Gallagher and John Squire which shot to the top of the singles charts. And this is surely just a prelude to what’s to come with new albums from great bands old and new on the horizon from the likes of The Reytons, The Snuts, James, Kaiser Chiefs, Kula Shaker, The Libertines, Elbow, My Life Story, The K’s, Cast and Shambolics.

And as Thursday rolls around again, we’re here with the latest Noteworthy Nods to serve as a reminder of just how bright the rest of the year looks based on the amount of amazing new tracks we’ve included in this week’s curated playlist.

Last week’s ‘Nods’ included new drops from Colour TV, Shed Seven, The Kid and I, Kula Shaker to name just a few (and you can still check that selection out over here if you missed it). And today’s choice assortment features new tunes from the likes of Kula ShakerCastThe Manatees, and the aforementioned first single from Liam Gallagher and John Squire‘s collaboration.

This week’s list comes packing a whopping 20 new tracks including the first new material from James since “All The Colours of You”, and brand new tunes from the likes of The K’s, PLAY DEAD, WEZ KING, My Life Story, Arcade State and Gruff Rhys.

We hope you enjoy this week’s essential playlist as much as we do and, as always, please drop us a tweet to let us (and more importantly, the musicians) know which tracks you’ve bookmarked for future repeat playback.

Aside from the aforementioned track recommendations, our Noteworthy section includes weekly videocast interviews featuring musical talent we hope are either already or, about to become your new favorite artists. You can watch/rewatch all previous episodes via the video playlist (here) featuring the likes of Red Rum ClubTurin BrakesEmbraceThe SherlocksThe Slow Readers ClubStanleysThe K’sThe NativeThe Clause, and many more. And what better a way to bring this week’s Noteworthy Nods section to a close than with a recent interview we conducted with the lead singer of the band currently sitting at the top of the UK album chart, Shed Seven’s Rick Witter…
